Hardwood Floor Refinishing in Asheville, NC

Asheville is where most of our work happens. The city's older neighborhoods sit on original oak that has usually been coated, waxed, recoated and lived on for the better part of a century — and almost all of it can be brought back.

What we see on Asheville floors

  • 1910s–1930s bungalows and craftsman homes over 2¼" and 3¼" red oak strip
  • Post-war ranches with oak that has never been sanded past its original finish
  • Newer builds and downtown condos over engineered and wide-plank white oak

Older Asheville homes rarely have a level subfloor, so we read the floor before choosing a grit sequence. The Bona PowerDrive planetary sander handles roughly 90% of what we see here: it follows the plane of an old floor instead of cutting new dips into it.

What we do in Asheville

  • Full sand and refinish of original oak, including removing decades of ambered or waxed finish
  • Repairs and board weaves where walls, registers or old plumbing left gaps
  • Stair treads and landings sanded and finished to match the floor
  • New solid and engineered installation, plus recoats for floors that are only tired, not worn through
