Hardwood Floor Installation
A floor installed well will outlive every other finish decision in the house. It is worth doing slowly.
Installation is mostly preparation. Subfloor flatness, moisture readings, acclimation, fastener schedule, expansion allowance — the parts nobody sees are the parts that decide whether a floor stays quiet and tight for decades.
We install both solid and engineered hardwood, and we are happy to talk you out of the wrong one for your situation. Crawlspaces, radiant heat, basements, and mountain humidity all change the answer.
What this includes
Solid hardwood
Traditional nail-down installation over wood subfloor. Refinishable many times over, and the right choice for most main-level WNC homes.
Engineered hardwood
The better answer over concrete, radiant heat, or in below-grade spaces. We help you read the wear-layer spec that actually matters.
Unfinished, site-finished floors
Sanded and finished in place for a seamless surface with no micro-bevels collecting grit — and complete control over color and sheen.
Custom layouts
Herringbone, borders, feature strips, inlays, thresholds, and careful transitions into existing flooring.
How the work goes

Measure and assess
Subfloor type, flatness, moisture content of both subfloor and wood, and how the new floor will meet everything around it.

Acclimate
Material sits in the home until its moisture content is in equilibrium with the space. This step is not optional.
- 03
Prepare the subfloor
Flattening, fastening down squeaks, and vapor management where it is needed.
- 04
Lay out the field
We plan starting lines, seams, and end joints before a single board goes down.
- 05
Install
Correct fastener spacing, staggered joints, racked for grain and color variation rather than pulled straight from one bundle.
- 06
Finish or trim out
Site-finishing where specified, then shoe, thresholds, and transitions.
